This stunning trek passes under the magnificent mountain Salkantay ( 6.71 / 20569ft ), one of the highest and most impressive of the Peruvian Andes. His first two days will be dominated by the impressive " Apus " Salkantay and Huamantay , while touring the high puna landscape.

Day 1 : Cusco – Mollepata –Challacancha– Soraypampa – Salkantaypampa

You will be picked up at your hotel early in the morning in a private vehicle and after three hours we reach the small village of Mollepata where we will have breakfast (not included) and you can buy some last minute items. From here our private transport will rise to Challacancha for about 1 hour, then start with the walk.

**Please note that if you are comparing tours - this is a PRIVATE CAR to Challacancha, reducing walking time during day one. It also makes the tour more expensive than other companies offering a public bus to Mollepata. *** There are approximately two-hour walk to Soraypampa for lunch while enjoying the views from the top of Huamantay. After lunch we continue with a walk uphill for 1.5 to 2 hours until our first camp site in Salkantaypampa. Lodging: Camping in Salkantaypampa (5-hour hike at an altitude of 4100m).

DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – CHAULLAY

early very morning start from our camp , after a hearty breakfast with direction to the Salkantay ( 4,540 meters) is the highest of any point on the route for about 4 hours climb this first step where we will have a short break to take the breathtaking views that will be appreciated from this point.

During the journey we will find several cairns called Apachetas . Then descend for approximately 1 hour for lunch and then continue walking for about 3 hours . up to Chaullay where is our second camp . Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 : CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA (Sawayaco) – SANTA TERESA

After our breakfast we start Chaullay at 7:00 am . approx . to continue our walk towards Collcapampa where we will pass through narrow paths with abundant native to the area as the different types of orchids and waterfalls that will be all the way flora. After 5 hours of walking finally we arrive at Sawayaco also called the beach where we will take a car towards Santa Teresa town that is 1,645 m.s.n.m for about 45 minutes we will be in Santa Teresa around 3.00 pm where we will stay . After a short break we will go to the medicinal baths (not included ) that is located 4.5 km approx . Santa Teresa . Dinner and overnight .

DAY 4 : SANTA TERESA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

At 8:00 a.m. Approx. morning after our breakfast we will go by car for about 30 minutes to reach Hydropower , after reaching Hydropower continue walking approximately 2 hours to reach Aguas Calientes.
Arriving in hot water will settle into your accommodation and coordinate the ascent the next day to the city of Machu Picchu.

DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

Very early in the morning (5:30 am) we will take our breakfast to transport the first bus to take us to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu for about 30 minutes. Then we have our tour for about 2 hours tour where the guide will take us through the most important places of the citadel, after our visit we will have the whole afternoon to take pictures and go on our own in Machupicchu ( the time depends much the train schedule to be granted as it has to be half an hour before the departure of your train at the station ) , the other option is to climb the Huayna Picchu (not included ) to appreciate the breathtaking view of the citadel . Finally we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes then go to the station and wait for our train that will take us back to the town of Ollantaytambo and then by bus to Cusco where we will approximately 11:30 pm.
